A 19-year-old man is found shot dead early Thursday morning in Philadelphia’s East Germantown neighborhood, just half a block from his home. Police responded to reports of gunfire around 5:30 a.m. on the 200 block of East Rittenhouse Street, where they discovered the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the face, pronounced dead shortly after at 5:47 a.m.
The young man had only taken his electric scooter out for a brief ride before tragedy struck. The shooting occurred near Morton Playground, with police recovering six shell casings from the scene and reports indicating two parked cars were also struck by stray bullets. As investigators review nearby surveillance footage, no arrests have been made, raising concerns in the community about safety and violence.
