Edward Kelley, a former Marine and Jan. 6 rioter, is sentenced to life in prison for plotting a violent revenge attack on FBI agents after storming the U.S. Capitol. Following his arrest, Kelley created a “kill list” targeting 36 law enforcement officers involved in his case, revealing the extent of his retaliation plans which included bombings and assassinations.
Despite receiving a pardon from President Trump for his charges related to the Capitol riot, federal authorities argued that the pardon did not extend to Kelly’s subsequent conspiracy to murder federal agents. His accomplice, Austin Carter, is expected to testify against him after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges, highlighting the serious threat posed by Kelley, who was among the first to breach the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
