Woman Shoots Husband, Then Herself in Ponchatoula Incident

A woman from Hammond reportedly shot her husband in the hand before turning the gun on herself outside a McDonald’s in Ponchatoula on Monday evening. The incident unfolded shortly after 5:16 p.m. when police responded to a shooting call, discovering the 60-year-old man wounded and hiding nearby. As officers attempted to help him, they encountered the 47-year-old woman, Cabrina R. Stanley, who refused to comply with commands to drop her firearm and subsequently fatally shot herself in the head, according to Police Chief Bry Layrisson.

Following the tragic event, the man was transported to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. The distressing scene unfolded in a public place, raising concerns about safety and the circumstances that led to the confrontation. This incident marks a tragic example of domestic violence that has left the local community in shock as authorities continue to investigate.
