Protests Disrupt Titusville City Council Meeting After Shooting

Protests erupted at the Titusville City Council meeting on February 11, 2025, as demonstrators voiced their outrage over the recent police shooting of Tri-Marea Charles, a 25-year-old who was shot while reportedly holding a handgun. The meeting was interrupted for more than thirty minutes after community members shouted down the mayor, urging for accountability and transparency regarding the incident that marked the second deadly officer-involved shooting in just three months.

Family and friends of Charles expressed their frustration over the lack of information and access to evidence related to the shooting, including the absence of video footage and the opportunity to view Charles’ body. As emotions ran high, Mayor Andrew Connors acknowledged the community’s pain but stated that the investigation was outside the city’s authority, which only intensified the protesters’ demands for answers from the Titusville Police Department.
