Delhi Police have arrested two men linked to the notorious “Baba” gang following an armed robbery at a currency exchange shop in Mahipalpur, where robbers made off with ₹1.5 lakh in cash and ₹6 lakh in foreign currency. The arrested suspects, identified as Gaurav, 20, and Dipanshu, 21, were caught in possession of a pistol and further evidence, including ₹20,000 believed to be part of the stolen money, as they attempted to flee on a stolen motorcycle.
The investigation was propelled by CCTV analysis, leading to the discovery of a rented vehicle associated with the gang’s suspected leader, Bhola Shankar, who remains at large. Notably, Dipanshu’s background as a former kabaddi player with multiple criminal records in Haryana highlights the gang’s recruitment tactics. As police efforts intensify to apprehend Shankar, the incident raises concerns over escalating gang-related violence in the capital.
