Bill Filed for Concealed Carry on College Campuses

State Senator Randy Fine (R) has introduced a bill aimed at permitting concealed carry of firearms on college and university campuses, highlighting growing safety concerns in light of recent events. The legislation, known as SB 814, seeks to empower students and faculty to protect themselves, reflecting Fine’s belief that the Second Amendment rights do not cease at campus boundaries.

Fine’s bill comes after a surge in discussions about campus safety and allegations of universities prioritizing certain ideological groups. He specifically cited threats following the Hamas attacks in Israel as a catalyst for his push to ensure that adults on campuses have the same self-defense rights as they do off campus. Fine, who is also vying for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, plans to address issues related to campus security and alleged antisemitism among certain congressional members.
