The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has confirmed the state’s second case of chronic wasting disease (CWD), commonly referred to as ‘zombie deer’ disease, in a white-tailed deer found in Posey County. CWD is a contagious neurological condition that can be fatal for deer and other members of the Cervidae family, and it has been reported in wild deer populations across 36 states, heightening the urgency for monitoring and management initiatives.
