The family of T’Yonna Major, a 9-year-old victim of a tragic shooting spree in Pine Hills, Florida, leads a community walk against gun violence this weekend, marking the second anniversary of her death. The event aims to raise awareness and honor not only T’Yonna but also the lives lost in similar tragedies, including TV journalist Dylan Lyons and Nathacha Augustin, who were killed in the same incident.

In the wake of their loss, T’Yonna’s family is also pursuing legal action against the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, alleging negligence in investigating the gunman prior to the shooting. “Nothing for us is ever going to be the same,” said Angel Brantley, a family member, emphasizing the need for collective action to stop gun violence. Their fight underscores the urgency for systemic change as they hope to prevent future tragedies.
