Derby Man Arrested With Illegal Gun After Traffic Stop

Bridgeport police arrest 27-year-old Nytwan Brown of Derby after discovering an illegal firearm during a traffic stop on Thursday evening. Officers initiated the stop due to the car’s heavily tinted windshield and quickly escalated the situation when Brown attempted to reverse into a home upon seeing the emergency lights.

Upon questioning, police discovered Brown had an outstanding warrant from North Branford. A subsequent search of his black Chevrolet Camaro uncovered a Taurus .45-caliber gun with a “heavily scratched” serial number, leading to multiple charges including carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
