San Antonio police officers are investigating a nightclub on the city’s Southwest Side that has been tied to two separate police shootings occurring back-to-back over the weekend. The nightclub, located in the 5000 block of Southwest Military Drive, is operating illegally as an “after-hours” venue and has drawn numerous complaints from nearby residents about ongoing violence and illegal activities, including firearms and fighting matches.
Officers arrested two 18-year-old suspects following a shooting incident early Saturday, where one suspect allegedly pointed a weapon at police. Another shooting occurred the next day, when a 28-year-old man inside the nightclub fired at responding officers, subsequently sustaining injuries in the exchange. Authorities are now working with various city departments to expedite the process of shutting down the establishment amidst rising community concerns about safety in the area.
