Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Robbery and Kidnapping

Steven Jones, a 25-year-old man, pleads guilty to multiple armed robbery and kidnapping charges after a disturbing two-week crime spree that “terrorized South Jackson,” according to local police chief Joseph Wade. During the spree, Jones reportedly forced several victims at gunpoint into the trunks of their own cars and demanded they withdraw cash from ATMs.

On March 3, 2025, Jones is sentenced to 40 years in prison, with 17 years suspended, leading to 23 years of incarceration before he is eligible for early release in 2047. This case highlights a significant rise in violent incidents in the area, raising concerns among local residents and law enforcement about public safety and the ongoing challenges they face.
