Two Juveniles Arrested for Gun at Baton Rouge School

Two juveniles, aged 12 and 13, are now in custody after an unloaded gun was discovered in a backpack at Capitol Middle Magnet School in Baton Rouge. According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, the sixth graders face charges for illegal carrying of a firearm on school property and illegal handgun possession by a juvenile.

The incident marks a worrying trend, as this is the fourth reported case involving firearms in local schools since January. School administrators acted on a tip, swiftly leading to the discovery of the weapon without any prior threats made by the students. Authorities emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to maintain safety on school grounds.
