The Army has commenced construction of a new ammunition production facility at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Missouri, designed to manufacture millions of 6.8 mm rounds each year for its cutting-edge Next Generation Squad Weapons. Reim emphasized the significant role of such production capabilities in securing battlefield success, as the Army integrates advanced weaponry with capabilities that promise better accuracy and lighter weight compared to previous calibers.
