Arrest Made in Pines Village Homicide Case

Jerroy Johnson, 20, was arrested in connection with the June 22 shooting that claimed the life of Jefferson Parish deputy Ashley Aples in Pines Village. Aples, 43, who served at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and was remembered for his love of music and family, was shot dead in the early hours of that day, prompting an extensive investigation by the New Orleans Police Department.

Authorities utilized an ankle monitoring service to identify Johnson as a suspect, who is also linked to a separate shooting that occurred on June 1. Initially apprehended in Slidell with the help of U.S. Marshals, Johnson faces charges of aggravated battery by shooting and homicide following his extradition to Orleans Parish. This arrest highlights ongoing efforts to tackle gun violence in the region.
