One killed, one wounded in Annapolis shooting

One man is dead and another is injured following a shooting in Annapolis’ Clay Street neighborhood Wednesday morning, according to city Police Chief Ed Jackson. Officers arrived at the scene around 7:40 a.m. to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds, one of whom was a juvenile with a foot injury, while the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, which is notable for being the third such incident on Clay Street this year. Jackson highlighted the ongoing efforts by detectives to follow up on leads and establish connections to a fight that reportedly preceded the incident. This tragically marks Annapolis’ second homicide investigation of 2024, raising community concerns about violence in the area.
