Federal authorities have charged 18 Brazilian nationals with firearms offenses after a year-long investigation, seizing approximately 110 guns in Massachusetts. The firearms, which included handguns and rifles, are allegedly connected to violent activities associated with Primeiro Comando da Capital, a notorious criminal organization in Brazil, as well as local gangs.
This case, part of Operation Take Back America, underscores the ongoing issues of illegal firearms trafficking and gang-related violence in the U.S. Many of the defendants reportedly have no legal status in the country and reside in various Massachusetts communities. The investigation also yielded trafficking quantities of fentanyl and highlighted the transnational nature of these criminal networks.
