Lecompte Man Faces Multiple Deer Hunting Violations

Mason Maricle, a 49-year-old resident of Lecompte, Louisiana, faces multiple deer hunting citations after being caught in the act of unlawful hunting practices in Rapides Parish. Authorities from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited Maricle for hunting during a closed season, hunting at illegal hours, and even shooting from a moving vehicle—all serious violations that could impose hefty fines and jail time.

Following a tip about late-night hunting, enforcement officers connected Maricle to a vehicle seen on Blue Lake Road around 1:30 a.m. He reportedly admitted to attempting to shoot a deer from his truck with a .22 caliber rifle. The penalties for his actions could reach as high as $950 and up to 120 days in jail for some charges, highlighting the strict regulations in place to protect wildlife in the region.
