11 Arrested in Allegheny County Firearm Investigations

In a significant crackdown on illegal firearm transactions, Allegheny County authorities have arrested 11 people for their involvement in straw purchases, a practice that bypasses critical background checks. Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday reported that among those arrested was 33-year-old Stanford A. Russell Jr., who led police on a chase before being apprehended with drugs and a firearm in his possession.

Investigators highlight the dangers posed by straw purchases, as these transactions often enable felons to acquire weapons that are connected to violent crimes. The ongoing investigation, spearheaded by the Allegheny County Gun Violence Task Force with support from the FBI, aims to dismantle networks facilitating these illegal firearm sales and enhance safety in local communities.
