New Texas Hunting Regulations for 2025-26 Announced

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has approved significant changes to hunting regulations for the upcoming 2025-26 season, including an increase in the daily bag limit for northern pintails from one to three birds. These adjustments follow a new federal harvest strategy and are designed to maximize both opportunity and sustainability for hunters across various regions of Texas.

Additionally, the teal hunting season will be shortened from 16 days to just nine due to a decline in the breeding population of blue-winged teal. Other notable changes include a shift in quail hunting season dates, which will now open on November 1 and close at the end of February, as well as the introduction of a new turkey season in Lubbock County. These regulations aim to enhance hunting experiences while ensuring the health of wildlife populations.
