Driver Arrested Following Armed Robbery Investigation

On March 30, Beaufort County deputies arrest 30-year-old Sonny Ray Cobb Jr. following a traffic stop connected to an armed robbery at the Handy Mart in Washington. The robbery suspect, described as a black male wearing a mask and armed with a rifle or shotgun, reportedly demanded money from a store employee before fleeing the scene.

Investigators quickly identified a suspect vehicle, leading deputies to conduct a traffic stop shortly after the crime. Cobb faces serious charges including robbery with a dangerous weapon and is held without bond, while authorities assure the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community as they investigate the incident as isolated.
