Bemidji Man Gets Six Years for Fentanyl Trafficking

Patrick Burton Strong, a Bemidji resident, has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking fentanyl and illegally possessing a machine gun. This case, which has captured the attention of law enforcement and the community, involves Strong acquiring $10,000 worth of fentanyl in Minneapolis, a significant amount that signals the ongoing opioid crisis gripping the region.

During a traffic stop in early April 2024, Strong and his accomplices were found with a staggering 100 grams of fentanyl and an unregistered firearm, leading to a more extensive investigation revealing additional drugs and weapons. The prosecution emphasizes the deadly nature of his activities, marking this case as a serious threat given the rise in drug-related violence. Strong will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.
