Four Injured in French Quarter Shooting, One Detained

At least four people are injured following a shooting in the French Quarter of New Orleans on Sunday evening, as crowds were dispersing from the annual French Quarter Festival. The New Orleans Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. near the intersection of Iberville and Decatur streets, prompting officials to block off the area during their investigation.

The shooting took place on the final night of the four-day festival, a popular event attracting both residents and tourists. With several evening activities still scheduled, festival organizers have yet to comment on the incident, which raised concerns about public safety during such a widely celebrated gathering. Police confirm that one individual is in custody, but further details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.
