Pittsburgh Parks officials announce the successful conclusion of the 2024-25 Deer Management Program, aimed at addressing the region’s overpopulation of white-tailed deer. The program, which included archery and targeted harvesting, resulted in the removal of 335 deer from five parks, all conducted without any public safety incidents.
This year’s initiative not only targeted environmental and safety concerns, such as reducing vehicle-deer collisions but also significantly benefited the community by providing 37,480 meals to local food pantries. Since its inception, the program has supplied a total of 45,760 meals, showcasing a dual focus on wildlife management and social responsibility in Pittsburgh.
