A 53-year-old man from St. Charles faces charges after attempting to bring a firearm into Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. Security personnel from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) discovered the gun in his bag during routine screening just before 1 p.m., leading to his eventual arrest by Chicago police.
The incident prompted a brief suspension of screening operations at Terminals 1 and 2 as officials tracked the man’s movements through the airport. Although no injuries occurred, the TSA has reported an increase in firearm confiscations at checkpoints, with over 6,600 firearms seized this year alone. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
