Kevin James Manley, 22, is charged with attempted second-degree murder following an armed robbery at a Macclenny gas station that resulted in a clerk being critically injured. The incident occurred while Manley and a relative attempted to steal alcoholic beverages, leading to a confrontation in which Manley shot the clerk after a physical altercation.
Local authorities confirmed that the 14-year-old relative of Manley is not involved in the crime and actually tried to intervene during the robbery. The wounded clerk has been transported to UF Health Jacksonville, and a GoFundMe has been established to support his recovery.
