FSU Shooter Used Mother’s Weapon in Campus Attack

A shooting at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee leaves two dead and six injured, with 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner identified as the shooter. Authorities reveal that Ikner used a firearm belonging to his mother, a sheriff’s deputy, emphasizing the tragic implications of gun access within families as the investigation continues into how he obtained the weapon.

Ikner, a student at the university, was “neutralized” by law enforcement and taken to a hospital following the incident. The victims of this violent act, which took place around noon on April 17, were not FSU students, and police confirm that there is no ongoing threat to the community. FSU President Richard McCullough has called the event a “tragic and senseless act of violence,” as students and faculty come together to mourn and support one another in this difficult time.
