This weekend, the Redmond Police Department invites local residents to participate in a firearm exchange event, allowing them to trade unwanted guns for gift cards worth up to $300. Scheduled for Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to noon, the initiative aims to safely reduce the number of firearms in the community, thereby addressing concerns related to gun violence and accidents.

Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe emphasizes the importance of safely disposing of firearms and encourages attendees to ensure their guns are unloaded and stored properly in their vehicles. In a similar previous event, the Everett Police Department collected a total of 241 firearms, highlighting the potential impact of such exchanges.
