Two Arrested in Southern Pines Bank Robbery

Two men from Moore County are arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Truist Bank in Southern Pines that took place on April 11 at approximately 5 p.m. The Southern Pines Police Department, with the FBI’s assistance, apprehended 47-year-old Christopher Lee Bibey and 24-year-old Jaylan Garratt Schmidt, who are currently held without bond at the Moore County Detention Center.

According to police, Bibey and Schmidt will appear in court soon, with Bibey’s hearing scheduled for Thursday and Schmidt’s on May 1. The swift arrest highlights the collaborative effort between local law enforcement and federal agencies, raising questions about the incident’s circumstances and its impact on community safety.
