This Monday, the Washtenaw Community College hosts its third annual Community Violence Intervention Summit, featuring a poignant panel of mothers who have lost sons to gun violence. Theresa Davis, along with three others, will share personal stories of grief and the transformative journey towards forgiveness, emphasizing the necessity of love and support in healing from such profound loss.
The summit, held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., aims to shift focus from crisis response to preventative measures in combating violence, and includes a dedicated Youth Day on Tuesday designed to engage high school students impacted by gun violence. Attendees will hear from community activist Cobe Williams, reinforcing the message that “redemption is necessary” in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by families and youth in their communities.
