Providence police, along with tactical teams, execute early morning raids in five Rhode Island communities as part of investigations into a series of recent shootings. The raids are connected to at least three separate shooting incidents that have raised concerns across the region, highlighting an ongoing issue of gun violence.
During the raids, police recover several firearms and make multiple arrests, although the identities of those taken into custody remain undisclosed. Major David Lapatin of the Providence Police confirms the operations resulted from collected evidence, such as cartridge cases, pointing to a comprehensive approach involving local police as well as the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
