Petaluma Man Arrested for Threatening Salesperson with Gun

A 67-year-old Petaluma man, Michael Greenwood, is in custody after a tense confrontation in which he allegedly brandished a handgun and threatened a door-to-door salesperson. The incident occurred last Monday on Daniel Drive when police responded to reports of the homeowner chasing the salesperson while armed. Upon arrival, officers found Greenwood actively threatening the victim, prompting the implementation of a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) to ensure public safety.

The police report details how officers were able to de-escalate the situation without further incident, despite Greenwood initially refusing to surrender his firearm. He faces serious charges under California law, including making criminal threats and brandishing a weapon. This alarming encounter raises concerns about the safety of salespeople working in residential areas and the potential need for stricter gun safety measures.
