Man Gets 25 Years for Armed Drug Store Robberies

A 34-year-old man, Marvin Rashaad Cummings, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in a series of armed robberies at drug stores in Wake County, as announced by the U.S. Department of Justice. Cummings, who pleaded guilty in December 2024, was involved in at least six robberies, including a notable incident at a CVS in Raleigh where he threatened an employee with a handgun and stole a large sum of money from the store safe.

Police apprehended Cummings after tracking stolen money to a vehicle he was driving, where they found matching clothing and the firearm used in the crime. His background includes previous convictions for several serious offenses, including bank robbery, underscoring his long history of violent crime. Cummings’s sentencing aligns with the Violent Crime Action Plan aimed at addressing the critical factors driving violent incidents in the community.
