Farmington Hills Approves New Deer Management Strategy

The Farmington Hills City Council has approved a new deer management resolution aimed at addressing a suspected increase in the local deer population, passing the measure with a 6-1 vote. This initiative is a collaborative effort with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and includes a unique program that allows public safety personnel to conduct regulated deer hunting, although the use of firearms will be prohibited.

Concerns about the rising deer numbers have been discussed as early as March, prompting local leaders to seek solutions to balance public safety and wildlife management. The plan’s implementation marks a significant step for the community in managing wildlife while ensuring safety measures are strictly followed.
