Authorities have identified the man killed in a police shooting in South San Francisco as 60-year-old Brian Joseph Montana. The incident unfolded when officers responded to reports of Montana brandishing a firearm and shooting into an occupied home, prompting a protracted exchange of gunfire that left Montana dead at the scene.
According to police, Montana fired a handgun, shotgun, and rifle over a span of 25 minutes from a driveway before officers returned fire. A resident of the targeted home sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the barrage, and both officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation.
