No Charges for Officer in Fatal Mistaken Shooting

Maricopa County prosecutors announce they will not charge a Glendale police officer who shot and killed 27-year-old Dillon Siebeck in January during a mistaken identity incident. The officer and other patrols were searching for a domestic violence suspect when they mistakenly focused on Siebeck, who was unarmed and posed no threat at the time of the shooting.

Siebeck’s family is deeply distressed by the decision, with their attorneys highlighting that this does not absolve the officers of any potential wrongdoing. The incident, which remains under internal review by Glendale police, raises significant questions about police protocols during confrontations involving suspect searches.
