Rochester Police have arrested two men linked to a shooting incident on Avenue C that occurred in April, during which a 25-year-old victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury. Sherrod Dukes, 30, and Steven Smith, 41, face multiple charges after police executed a search warrant that resulted in the recovery of firearms and approximately 2,000 suspected fentanyl pills at a residence on Glenwood Avenue.
The investigation began when officers responded to reports of a shooting, which revealed that Dukes allegedly fired at the victim following an altercation. On Wednesday, Dukes was apprehended by the United States Marshals, leading to the discovery of not only handguns and a shotgun but also additional firearms and body armor at the location. The charges against both men reflect the serious nature of the offenses as police continue to address gun violence in the community.
