Seven individuals have been indicted for their involvement in a series of armed robberies targeting bank customers throughout multiple Maryland counties, according to Attorney General Anthony Brown. These suspects allegedly engaged in what is known as “bank jugging,” methodically stalking victims after they withdrew significant amounts of cash, resulting in at least 34 robberies and attempted robberies from August 2023 to July 2024.
The two criminal groups were reportedly armed with modified firearms and even attempted murder when their victims resisted. A joint investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives revealed the group’s evolution in tactics, from robbing individuals in parking lots to following them home—a disturbing trend that highlights growing concerns about public safety for bank customers. All seven suspects are currently in custody, with the total taken from victims exceeding $155,000.
