Authorities in Beaufort County have arrested Devin Thomas Sparks for multiple felonies, including breaking and entering and firearm larceny, following an investigation into a reported gun theft in Chocowinity. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to the homeowner’s report and later recovered the stolen firearm at a separate location, discovering that the suspect had tampered with the gun’s serial number to evade detection.
Deputies tracked Sparks to a residence in Craven County, leading to his apprehension on May 6, 2025. He now faces serious charges, including felony larceny of a firearm and altering a weapon’s identification marks, raising concerns over local safety and firearm thefts.
