Jennings County Man Sentenced for Illegal Gun Sales

David Joseph Mull, a 52-year-old man from Jennings County, is sentenced to four years in federal prison for illegally selling more than 1,300 firearms without a license. His activities reportedly included selling over 500 guns for more than $350,000 to individuals who aimed to transport the weapons to Mexico, raising concerns about their use in cartel-related violence.

Mull’s illegal dealings date back several years and involve acquiring firearms from gun shows across several states. After previously being warned by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives about his unlicensed activities, Mull continued to operate, leading to his indictment in June 2023. Federal prosecutors are now seeking the forfeiture of more than 1,000 guns and other related assets, highlighting the serious implications of unregulated gun trafficking on community safety.
