A 27-year-old man from Georgia, Devontae Jones, is indicted for trafficking illegal firearms into Rochester, New York. The grand jury returned a four-count indictment against him, with serious charges including dealing firearms without a license and transferring a machine gun. According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Jones allegedly shipped a total of 20 firearms, among them four machine guns, from Atlanta to Rochester between February and May 2024.
This investigation, carried out by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), involved controlled purchases that directly linked Jones to the illegal sales. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a potential fine of $250,000, highlighting the severe legal repercussions tied to illegal arms trafficking in the area.
