Two Suspects Charged in Red Roof Inn Armed Robbery

Statesville Police have arrested 19-year-old Steven Michael Potts and a juvenile suspect in connection with a violent armed robbery at the Red Roof Inn on May 14. The pair is accused of robbing a victim at gunpoint after arranging a narcotics transaction via Snapchat, leading to a dramatic pursuit through wooded areas after the crime.

Officers utilized K-9 units to track Potts, who was found with a firearm and cash from the robbery in their hotel room and vehicle. Both suspects now face charges of armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping, and conspiracy, with further investigations expected to lead to additional charges. Potts remains in custody without bond at the Iredell County Detention Center.
