A Rogersville man, Kai Burton, is facing serious felony charges including robbery and unlawful use of a weapon after an incident at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Springfield, Missouri. The situation unfolded when Burton, reportedly armed, received food without paying, leading to his later arrest for accessing a stolen vehicle and fleeing the scene.
On May 11, employees recognized Burton when he returned to the same McDonald’s in the stolen vehicle. The police discovered a handgun in the car and apprehended him after he fled on foot. Burton also faces additional charges from previous incidents involving vehicle theft. His bond review hearing is set for May 19, as this unusual case highlights concerns around safety in fast-food venues.
