A 42-year-old man from West Baldwin has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on May 6 at the Cornish Market and Variety. James Palmer allegedly threatened a clerk with a firearm, demanding access to the safe before fleeing with approximately $2,000, according to a release from Maine State Police.
Palmer, who has three prior felony convictions for robbery, was apprehended on May 22 in Scarborough after investigators conducted multiple search warrants. Local law enforcement, along with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, arrested him without incident as he left a hotel. He now faces several charges, including robbery with a firearm and theft, and is being held on a $10,000 cash bail.
