The construction of a Kalashnikov AK-103 assault rifle factory in Venezuela is advancing according to plan, despite logistical challenges posed by U.S. sanctions. Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation head Dmitry Shugayev confirms that both Russia and Venezuela view this factory as a significant element of former President Hugo Chávez’s legacy, aiming primarily to supply the country’s security forces.
The factory, located in Maracay, has faced numerous delays since its initial launch was scheduled for 2021, with setbacks attributed to the pandemic and corruption scandals.
