Indiana Man Sentenced for J6 Capitol Riot Assault

Curtis Logan Tate, a 32-year-old from Jeffersonville, Indiana, has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for assaulting law enforcement during the January 6 Capitol riots. Tate’s violent actions included striking a Capitol police officer with a metal baton, as captured on body camera footage, as well as throwing objects at officers, leading to significant legal consequences.

The U.S. District Court also ordered Tate to pay $3,176 in restitution, highlighting the financial impact of his actions on the justice system. In videos he shared on social media, Tate displayed an alarming mindset, referring to the disturbances as “tearing this (expletive) down” and directly instigating violence against law enforcement during chaotic scenes at the Capitol.
