Former Gastonia Officer Indicted for Gun Purchase Fraud

Former Gastonia police officer Xana Dayanae Dove is indicted on federal charges for allegedly making false statements during a firearm purchase, specifically a straw purchase of a Springfield Hellcat Pro handgun. Prosecutors claim the 28-year-old falsely reported details during the purchase process and subsequently transferred the gun to another individual, violating federal law.

This latest indictment adds to Dove’s legal troubles; prior to this, she was arrested in September 2023 for multiple felonies, including illegally accessing a police computer system and conspiring to traffic drugs. If convicted of the current charges, she could face a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison, raising significant questions about the actions of current and former law enforcement personnel in handling firearms.
