Two Dead in Charlotte Weekend Shootings

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is probing two separate shootings over the weekend that resulted in the deaths of a 17-year-old girl and a 25-year-old man. Navaeh Carter was discovered fatally shot inside a vehicle in north Charlotte early Saturday morning, while Jahlen McDonald was killed in a separate incident shortly after midnight in the 9300 block of Broken Pine Lane, raising community concerns about safety.

Authorities report no arrests in Carter’s case, prompting calls for public assistance, while they have charged 24-year-old Thomas Cartee III with murder in McDonald’s death. Investigators are actively seeking additional leads, urging anyone with information to contact the police or Crime Stoppers. The city grapples with these tragic incidents, making the need for enhanced community engagement clear.
