Silence the Violence Month Events Launch in Michigan

This June, Michigan will witness a series of “Silence the Violence” events aimed at raising awareness about the impact of gun violence, driven by gun violence survivors and local faith leaders. Originating from a march organized by an East Detroit church in 2007, this initiative has transformed into a compelling series of community actions, culminating in a participation of thousands across the state.

Pastor Barry Randolph, a key figure in the movement, emphasizes the shift towards empowerment, stating, “We are taking our pain and turning it into power.” The events begin on June 4 and will include gatherings in cities such as Flint and Saginaw, featuring panel discussions and documentary screenings to engage communities in this critical dialogue, with the goal of fostering unity against gun violence.
