China’s Silent Hunter Laser Targets Ukrainian Drones

Russia reportedly utilizes a Chinese-made laser system known as the “Silent Hunter” to shoot down Ukrainian drones, a claim that challenges Beijing’s ongoing assertions of non-involvement in the conflict. Recent footage depicts Russian troops employing this low-altitude laser defense technology, which can target UAVs from distances exceeding a mile, demonstrating capabilities that could shift the dynamics of aerial engagements in the ongoing war.

The Silent Hunter, developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, is equipped with advanced tracking and targeting features that allow it to detect enemies 3.1 miles away. This report comes as Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky points to China’s indirect support for Russia, emphasizing the implications for the conflict’s longevity, with China providing critical components for Russian military operations.
