Gun safety advocates from Arkansas Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action are set to host a Wear Orange event in Little Rock on Saturday, marking National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Scheduled from 2-4 p.m. at the Awareness Center, the event will feature speakers including Whit Hall, Isabelle Elkins, LaKiesha Braggs, and Wendell Griffen, who will discuss the urgent need for improved firearm safety measures.
Over 500 similar events will occur nationwide this weekend under the banner of Wear Orange, a campaign started in memory of shooting victim Hadiya Pendleton. Local attendees can also participate in a gathering in Springdale, featuring speeches from Northwest Arkansas mayors Doug Sprouse and Molly Rawn, emphasizing community commitment to reducing gun violence.
